Athena Vortex Lattice (AVL) CompilationAthena Vortex Lattice (AVL) panel code is a program written by Mark Drela and Harold Youngren which allows the user to analyze the aerodynamics and flight controls of a rigid body aircraft configuration. The program takes aircraft parameters from a text based input file and allows the user to achieve aerodynamic and stability & control derivatives for a given flight condition. AVL has been widely used in the industry along with it's sister MatLAB code Tornado for aircraft preliminary and detail design. This tutorial shows how to compile the AVL source code into a binary executable on the Ubuntu operating system. Last Updated (Saturday, 07 May 2011 19:01)
