Digital Datcom Resources
The USAF Digital DATCOM application or DigiDat as it is sometimes reffered to, is a program written in FORTRAN that calculates a given aircrafts stability and control coefficients. Further information on the software can be found in our software section.
In this section you will find a a variety of resources which we have compiled that will aid everyone from a beginner to a seasoned veteran of this wonderful tool. It should be noted that a variety of these resources can be applied to the original DATCOM, Datcom+, OpenDatcom, or the DR2 prototype software packages.
EMBRY-RIDDLE DATCOM Tutorial
This is a wonderful document written by Professor Glenn Greiner has been circulating the Aerospace Engineering department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. This tutorial explains and depicts all the variables needed to build a Mig-17 input file in DATCOM's format. I still have yet to find a better beginner's guide to DATCOM than this.
Digital DATCOM USAF User's Manual
Upon completion of the Digital DATCOM program, the USAF released this manual to accompany the software. The manual describes all the variables which can be used in the DigiDat program and provides a lot of figures showing the variables. This is a MUST have document for anyone attempting to use DATCOM.
The documents below come straight from USAF and have been untouched by us. The manual is broken up into four parts.
